No thing aids the self that is embraced that does not feel appropriate for the self. All teachings of higher consciousness are offered to assist. Should the individual embrace a teaching for the self prior to the self’s readiness, it has indeed assisted the self in recognizing that the self need provide deep scrutiny to all things prior to embracement; otherwise, that which was offered in service - while indeed, it is still service - it can be viewed as negative by one who has failed to apply the self’s discernment.
